So, it’s been about a month since we launched the first part of our code update to mostly positive feedback. You guys have a couple months off to recover and get used to the changes before the next phase that affects users go through. Please remember though that reading is important! After all, we are a site dedicated to reading!! Without further ado, March’s news!
- Responding to user feedback
- Reminder if you haven’t moved to the new profile yet
- Technical Support & Duplicate Users
- FAQ’s sorted and updated
- Current PayPal Balance is $661.78
- Clean Up Status
- Archive Moderation Status
Please remember that this site is free to use. As such, the authors receive nothing for their efforts, except reviews. Do let them know that you read their stories, please! I'm sure they'll appreciate hearing from you!

I’d like to thank all of our users that took the time to provide feedback, both positive and constructive. Your feedback has allowed us to find some bugs and fine-tune a few features. I know that there are things people currently miss such as hit count, update & edit dates on profile story listing, etc, but please keep in mind that we aren’t finished yet and some things may return in future updates and some may simply be retired. A number of features we had to start here, then make changes on the back end over the next month or so, then add on to in the future. It’s an organic process.
When providing feedback, again, please make sure it’s constructive; ie what you think should be changed and the benefit to the site as opposed to ‘I HATE IT CHANGE IT BACK.’ I hate to break it to you guys, but we aren’t going back. This was done to ensure that the site will remain up and running for the next 10 years and provide a better foundation for future updates.
If you are avoiding changing to the new profile, well, eventually you will be moved over and all user data that doesn’t automatically transfer between the old and new profiles such as recommended reading, will be deleted. Please make sure you are taking the time to transfer over items now as once it is gone, its gone. You can still access your old profile by visiting the old link:

Over the last month, we’ve had a large number of technical support requests from users and we honestly did expect it. However, when you either post to the forum or email us, please make sure you are being more informative than, “I need help!” or “I can’t update my story!” All this does is make it take longer for us to help you, as then we have to email back, “What are you doing and where is it going wrong?”
When sending an email, please send relevant information such as your user ID, log in name, email address so we can identify you. Also, please make sure you tell us what the issue is. Does it tell you that you aren’t a registered user? Does it never send you the activation email? Let us know what steps you’ve taken.
If you have multiple accounts, please allow up to 48 hours for them to be merged together. This accounts for about 50% or more of current support request. They are handled in the order in which they are received. It’s not that we don’t want you to be able to access your account, but there is only one person to make the changes and as we’ve mentioned before – This is not a paying job, she’s gotta do that on top of this!
Along the same lines, please read and follow the FAQ’s we have in the forum. People not reading account for the next largest group of support requests, about 35%. The FAQs are there for a reason and 100% of the time when we refer someone to the FAQ related to their topic, they are able to solve their problem by following the FAQ step by step.
About 10% of support requests are requests for email addresses to be updated because the email originally used is no longer active.
That leaves about 5% of other random issues like bugs etc.
To go back to the FAQs now – I know before there were 3-4 pages and it was hard to find what you were looking for. I took time to sort them out into four categories:
- Archive How To’s: How do I…. Log in for the first time? Add a story? Delete a story?
- Forum FAQs: Any and all FAQs relating to the forum
- Archive FAQs – General: Anything that doesn’t fall into the other two Archive FAQ cats
- Conduct FAQs: The ‘Can I…’ FAQs like Can I take over abandoned stories? Can I withhold chapters?
If you have a suggestion for an FAQ that you don’t see, please let us know through FAQ requests.
It’s amazing what a slightly new look can do for donations! Since we launched the code, we’ve received over $100 in donations! Wow! That combined with our ad revenue brings our PayPal balance to $661.78 after paying March’s costs. Please continue to support us through your donations as we are only about 1/3 of the way paid for the $1500 code bill. More information about our balance and how do donate can be found here.
DemonGoddess is working hard in the clean-up process. She’s working on wall of text issues in books, fixing story board/review board data in Buffy from the crash, working on the date/time stamp repair in cartoons, and still moving stories from anime to cartoons! Talk about a busy woman!!
And to finish out the news, here’s how we are doing in terms of our Moderation status!
